Feeding Rainbow Trout Middle Fork Salmon River

40 seconds of a rainbow trout just gorging on Tricos . . . and leaving the much larger Callibaetis alone. There's a pretty good lesson here for anglers. There are both Callibaetis and Trico mayflies on the water. The Callibaetis (the light colored bugs) are much larger, but the fish prefers the Tricos (the dark colored bugs).

"This is as good as it gets. The food was excellent and your company was great. Meandering down the Rogue River and catching Oregon steelhead such as this was a real thrill."
